A lasting legacy for Harrogate.

This project was carried out in memory of James Brady, and in support of the memorial fundraising held in his name.

We will publish James's story here in the words of those who knew him, using the information contained in the memorial documentation supplied to the Foundation. Until that wording is confirmed, we would rather say little than say something inaccurate.

The Foundation — then operating as The Zappie Foundation — supported fundraising activity held in James's memory, including the memorial ball and the giving that surrounded it.

As part of that support, approximately £3,435 was committed towards the James Brady memorial initiative, including the purchase and installation of a publicly accessible defibrillator in Harrogate town centre.

The exact contribution, the receiving organisation and the partnership arrangements will be stated here once the supporting documentation has been provided.

The resulting defibrillator has been installed in Harrogate town centre, where it is available to the public.

Cardiac arrest can happen without warning, and survival depends on how quickly CPR is started and a defibrillator is used.

The British Heart Foundation, NHS and Resuscitation Council UK all emphasise the same point: early CPR and rapid access to an automated external defibrillator, alongside calling 999, give the best chance of survival.
